  • CEF 2 - 2024 Calls for projects: Apply for funding!

    On the 24th of September 2024, The European Climate, Environment and Infrastructure Executive Agency (CINEA) has opened new calls for projects under the CEF-Transport programme on behalf of the European Commission with the aim to build and modernize European transport infrastructure.

    For this call for projects, the European Commission has set aside a budget of €2,5 billion for the co-financing of studies and works spread over 5 calls, 3 of which concern Belgium:

    1. " Smart and interoperable mobility " (€640 million)

      This call covers several topics, including:

      • The deployment of ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management Systems) on rolling stock;
      • Projects that enable the increase of the interoperability of the rail system in EU;
      • The deployment of ITS (Intelligent Transport Services) systems for road transport;
      • Deployment of the air traffic management system (Single European Sky - SESAR);
    2. " Sustainable and multimodal mobility " (€160 million)

      This call is addressed to:

      • Work in the context of European Maritime Space/Short-sea shipping;
      • Study in the context of multimodal passenger hubs.
    3. " Safe and secure mobility " (€160 million)

      This call is aimed at projects that fall within the following topics:

      • Improving the resilience of transport infrastructure, in particular to climate change and natural disasters;
      • Adapting the transport infrastructure for Union external border checks purposes;
      • Safe and secure parking infrastructure.
  • Applications for subsidies must be validated by the Member States concerned. In Belgium, depending on the type of project, grant applications must be validated either by the FPS Mobility and Transport or by the Regions.

    Applicants wishing to have their application validated by the FPS Mobility and Transport are requested to send it by Tuesday 07 January 2025 at the latest to the following e-mail address: EUfunding@mobilit.fgov.be. The application forms, validated by the FPS, must then be sent to the CINEA agency by 21 January 2025 at the latest (via e-grants).

    More details on the priorities of the calls for projects and the selection criteria are available on the website of the CINEA agency.
